What is science-led nutrition?
Nutrition inspired by science — not trends — creates differences you can see, feel and trust. Our food scientists understand the combinations of nutrients and ingredients to help support lifelong health.
How much should I feed my pet?
Most Science Diet foods have a feeding guide on the package to help you determine the proper amount for your pet. It’s critical to your pet’s health that his or her physical condition be monitored regularly and the feeding amount adjusted as needed.
How can I tell if an unopened can or bag of cat or dog food is still good?
The datecode on our plastic bags is located on the left gusset, near the 4 or 5-digit SKU number, toward the bottom of the bag. The datecode on our medium and large bags will be located on the top of the bag, generally the front flap.
How should I store my cat or dog’s dry food?
Bags of dry Science Diet, Healthy Advantage and Prescription Diet cat or dog food should be stored in a cool, dry environment under 100°F (38°C).
The Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program is proud to have helped over 15 million shelter pets and counting find new homes. Since 2002, we’ve supported shelter pets by ensuring they eat precisely balanced nutrition 365 days a year.

I have two cats one ragdoll and one domestic. my domestic cat isn’t too picky with dry food, but my ragdoll is super super picky. I mean, I’ve got the best of the best brands thinking well maybe they’ll really like it if everything’s natural w/ no artificial crap but they seem to love the cheap stuff of course that’s why people like fast food I guess.. so I got them a different brand that’s a few steps up from Iams or maybe more because they love iams .. I really wanted to try something better for them than Iams and I did try some other ones but they didn’t like them of course and I was recommended to try hills science diet . So far they seem to be liking it , in other words they’re eating it. I’m going to try this one for a while and see what happens, hopefully they won’t get sick of it. My animals are just so spoiled!!So here is the rundown with Hill science, diet cat food:provides scientifically balanced, complete nutrition that meets all AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) standards. However, whether its ingredients are “good” depends entirely on what you prioritize in your cat’s dietPros: Highly Nutritious and SafeScientifically Formulated: The food is designed by veterinarians, nutritionists, and food scientists. The formulas undergo strict feeding trials and quality control, which many boutique brands do not do.High-Quality Proteins: Real meats (like chicken) are usually the first ingredient. The foods are also rich in essential amino acids like taurine, which is vital for a cat’s heart and eye health. No Artificial Junk: Science Diet does not use artificial colors, flavors, or unnecessary preservatives. The Cons: Fillers and CarbohydratesPlant-Based Fillers: The formulas often contain grains (like wheat and corn) and plant proteins (like soy or corn gluten meal) to meet specific nutrient profiles.Higher in Carbs: Because of these grains and plant ingredients, the dry kibble versions can be higher in carbohydrates than some cat owners prefer, especially considering cats are strict carnivores. The Community & Vet ConsensusThe Experts: Many veterinarians recommend Science Diet because it has a long-standing safety record and is highly effective for cats with specific health issues (e.g., urinary problems, kidney disease, or weight management)The Cons:Fillers and Carbohydrates,-Based Fillers: The formulas often contain grains (like wheat and corn) and plant proteins (like soy or corn gluten meal) to meet specific nutrient profiles.Higher in Carbs: Because of these grains and plant ingredients, the dry kibble versions can be higher in carbohydrates than some cat owners prefer, especially considering cats are strict carnivores. All in all seems to be a decent food and the price is not cheap so I’m thinking it’s a decent food. Hopefully this was a helpful review.Variation: Flavor Name: ChickenSize: 4 Pound (Pack of 1)
