5.0 out of 5 stars A good quality dog food without chicken byproducts! My dog loves this food! I’ll tell you a few things I like about too.My German Shepherd is allergic to chicken. Gives him a nasty, raw, red rash on his belly. An unfortunate allergy, especially since chicken or chicken byproducts are often added to many dog foods as a source of protein. I’m a label reader for that reason. I’m pleased that this food does not contain any chicken byproducts. The difference in my dog’s skin and coat is definitely due to the reduced allergens. Way less licking, scratching, redness or hot spots. He’s more at peace when he’s not itching, and that makes us both happy. You know, it probably is a little shinier too.The bag of dog food I received today was surprisingly fresh. My dog was sniffing the air and so excited for me to put a scoop in his bowl. Sometimes he likes when I add a cup or so of hot water to it to make a little gravy. He’ll wait for me to add it if he’s feeling that. Today, he scarfed that food down dry. Zero hesitation.The price of this dog food is reasonable especially considering the good quality, chicken byproducts free ingredients. I tend to shop a couple other brands at the $1.60-$1.70 lb price point and love when I catch this one on sale. We’ve tried the lamb one too, but it’s quite smelly. We fill up a big dog food tote and scoop out of it at meal time. You can always tell when the lid is open with the lamb one. Ha! I will still buy it if its the one on sale, because it is also a good quality dog food without chicken. Can’t be too picky. But I prefer the salmon skin and coat recipe. Our boy suddenly got a chicken allergy so we spent hours searching for a good kibble with no chicken at all, no animal by products used, and extra sources of vitamins and minerals for his XL self. I’ve never seen him eat the same flavor kibble without hesitation for more than a few days and I just hope that he’s going to continue eating it without issues moving forward! He would constantly poop soft and runny. He would wake me up at night vomiting. After two weeks, he is so much better! 5.0 out of 5 stars DIAMOND NATURALS SALMON FLAVOR Both my dogs – an elderly Australian Cattle Dog & older Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund gobbled the Diamond Naturals Salmon dog food; but, this is the 1st day I’ve fed it to them. I used to feed Diamond Naturals to all my dogs – at one time I had 15 but I found very good homes for some of them while the others grew old & crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I lost 5 dogs this year. At any rate, I’ll come back with an update several months from now. The food is a brown color – no artificial colors & it smells like salmon. The kibble is smaller than some other dog foods. After I changed to this food he no longer has dandruff however I also paired it with a shampoo that my vet recommended. My dog likes the food and I love the price and quality of ingredients.
