I ended up putting dirt in the bottom and it worked for my spider just fine. Perfect for a book case or window frame. It came pre set up and you get to decorate it yourself. I did have to trim the side pieces a little bit, but I’d rather have too much material than too little. I used a piece of wood from my spooder’s old enclosure and transferred it over, voila – perfect retirement home for my senior spider.The structure seems durable as well as the lid mechanism. However the price is worth it and just toss everything else (except the swing, it’s super cute). It’s a perfect size for a sub-adult/adult jumping spider. But what makes me choose this over others is the door. I love the door that swings down and secures with magnets. Gives me full access to the inside for cleaning or interacting with my spooder and I trust it when it closes.
